Realizing a Long-Term UCSC Vision
Startup Sandbox has announced that it will coordinate and administer UC Santa Cruz’s corporate internship program for graduate students in molecular biology, genomics, bioinformatics and other biotech fields.
UCSC and IATC, the University’s Office of Industry Alliances and Technology Commercialization, have been seeking an outside partner to create a bridge between the University staff and students and the biotech and biomedical industry. Startup Sandbox, with their years of experience helping the university convert their excellent academic research into commercially available and successful businesses is a natural match.
"The Sandbox's new affiliation with UC Santa Cruz enables us to broaden our scope by matching grad students that want to experience a corporate environment with companies that can offer them real-world biotech experience.”
Matching Motivated Grad Students and Companies
“Over the years, we have helped entrepreneurs find and hire the best candidates available to join their teams," said Lou Pambianco, CEO of Startup Sandbox. "The Sandbox's new affiliation with UC Santa Cruz enables us to broaden our scope by matching grad students that want to learn in a corporate environment with companies that can offer them real-world biotech experience.”
“Our incubator and programs have fostered collaboration between UCSC research programs and the biotech community to deliver life-altering and highly personalized medicines,” added Pambianco. “We plan to help motivated UCSC graduate students and industry partners learn from each other as they work together on key projects.”
